my husband just used an electric rice cooker that was bought some 2 months ago. i am not sure if he read the manual which sometimes have first time usage guide. he told me that when the cooker was heated, there was a bit of burning plastic smell. is that normal?
is it normal for a new electric rice cooker to smell on its first use?

The seller didn't actually package the item well. They sent it, (a kitchen appliance) in the box it's sold in in the stores...no outside packaging. not surprisingly, it was damaged in shipping and the item was dented and scratched as well. the seller stated I should file a complaint with FedEx -but the seller should have packaged the item better as well. What should I do?
An item I purchased on Ebay was damaged in shipping what do I do?

a panini maker and fondue set...other than that I need to buy everything...couches, tv, radio, pots, plates, towels, etc...
Does anyone know what the best kitchen appliances are? What brand? I don't want to buy cheap things, I would rather buy quality items for my home. also...there is a brand new white Maytag stove, should I stick to white or sell it and get stainless steel? Please help...I get my keys this week!!
These are great suggestions. Yes, buying everything brand new would cost an arm and a leg.

Does anyone know a method of cooking salmon without smelling up the house?
Um - I forgot to mention that I live in New York City and people don't have any outdoor options - most of us don't have cars either. So thanks for all who said cook outside, but that will not work.
